Witnesses: Man yelled racial slurs while driving truck with Confederate flag around Campustown

I grew up about 20 minutes outside of C-U. In high school (~10 years ago), for many (and I suspect in many other rural areas), it was a past-time to drive around campus and harass students, particularly international students, on a near-weekly basis.

It was as disgusting, but also unsurprising given many in these communities’ feelings towards diversity.

It’s always struck me as sad that someone would derive more joy from tearing down diversity than learning from it and appreciating the perks of being close to a global community full of different cultures.

Sad, but not surprised.
